There have been many versions of this beloved English folktale. The one presented here is written in rhyme. As is common with folktales, certain details vary in different versions. In this one, the animals are a cat, a dog and a mouse. I have seen versions of the story with a cat, a dog and a pig--- or a duck. The story is essentially the same. It is a story about responsibility.
