This story has an interesting background. Many years ago I prepared a felt board story based on the Scandinavian folktale, "The Three Billy Goats Gruff." In this
story, the three billy goats want to cross a bridge. Under the bridge is a mean troll who wants to eat them up.
The pre-kindergarten was coming into the library for their library period. A few minutes before they arrived, I looked at the scary-looking troll and decided--nope- I don't want to do this story. So I quickly changed the story which ultimately became the rhyming story "One Hill is Enough." It is based on the idiom ..."the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence." In this case--the other mountain.
In subsequent years I did this story as a puppet show; I used the props for the pictures in the story.
