A SONG ABOUT LEFT/RIGHT

Teaching children to distinguish left and right is a very important early childhood skill. Following the teacher, raising the right hand or left hand, presents complications. If the teacher is facing the children his or her left hand is seen by the children sitting in front as the right hand. The teacher has to raise his or her left hand and say "raise your right hand," and the children will follow. Otherwise, the teacher must have his or her back toward the children. It is most advantageous to watch the children at all times. The teacher really needs to concentrate on this one....

Here is a song which helps learn left/right.
